Talk About Our MARRIAGE?!! You Can’t Be Serious!

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Two people, committed to living together, for the rest of their lives–WOW!

We sure could all use some support, because this is not easy stuff.  Problem is, it is very hard to get support for something that we seldom, if ever talk about, except in a counseling room.

So here’s my question to all of you:  What do you imagine would transpire if those of us in committed relationships talked openly as couples, with other couples,  about our marriages?  That means we discuss, as a four-some, the realities of our relationship existence.

How we manage conflict, money, the in-laws, parenting/child discipline issues, our sex lives, affairs, dreams, etc., the whole nine yards, shared openly, while receiving and offering feedback.

Please share your ideas, reactions, comments abut this below–is talking about your relationship a good, bad, both a good,  and bad idea, or something else?

What do you think it would be like for you and your partner to do this?  Maybe you ARE doing this with another couple or two, and are willing to give us some insight as to how it’s working out.

Wishing you a satisfying relationship,

Jim Hutt, Ph.D., MFT

P.S.  NOTE:  I do NOT mean only ONE of you talking about your partner to another couple or individual–that IS something that occurs frequently, and often constitutes a betrayal if the partner being spoken about is not present when it’s happening.
